Note that you can claim points if you assess your spouse's degree.
English Language Requirements:
https://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...apply/english/
Your (overall) IELTS score should be 6.5 or better in either the Academic or General module. You don't have to score 6.5 in each band. What counts is your overall total score. However, you don't get extra points for scoring more than 6.5.
If you have claimed points for your spouse's qualifications, then your spouse should score 6.5 or better in the IELTS test as well.
If you can score 140 points or more on the points indicator, then apply for an Expression of Interest (EOI).
All the applications with 140 points get selected automatically from the pool. There is a selection every two weeks. After you get selected, you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
You will then have to submit all your documents within a timeframe of 4 months.
A completed application form.
An application fee.
Two passport-size photographs for each applicant.
A current passport or certificate of identity for each applicant.
A birth certificate for each applicant.
Evidence of relationship with your partner as explained in the guide.
A police certificate for each applicant aged 17 and over from their country of citizenship and from any country in which they have lived for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Police certificates must be less than six months old at the time the application is lodged.
Medical forms for each applicant which is less than three months old when the application is lodged.
English language ability of all applicants aged 16 years and over.
Where applicable, evidence of your and/or your partner's offer of skilled employment.
Where applicable, evidence of your and/or your partner's full or provisional registration if either of you have skilled employment or an offer of employment in New Zealand.
Where applicable, the qualifications for which you and/or your partner are claiming points and/or bonus points.
Where applicable, the qualifications for which you and/or your partner are claiming points and/or bonus points.
Where applicable, an NZQA assessment.
Where applicable, your and/or your partner's certificate of registration.
Where applicable, evidence of your work experience for which you are claiming points and/or bonus points.
Where applicable, evidence of your close family in New Zealand.
A case officer will be assigned to your case within 2-4 months. This depends on the volume of applications received by INZ.
The case officer will notify you through an email that he/she has been assigned to your case and that an initial checkup has been done. A document will be attached with the breakdown of points that you are claiming. The case officer might request documents for further evidence.
If everything has been submitted and all the points have been claimed, then the officer will set a date with you to conduct a telephonic interview. The sole purpose of this interview is to check whether the main applicant is ready to settle in New Zealand or not. The interview might last an hour. It's a good idea to start searching for jobs and contacting companies and recruiters early on in the process of your immigration, because your officer will ask you about this question in the interview and might ask for evidence of correspondence between you and the recruiters. Here are some of the questions you might be asked:
Have you ever been in New Zealand?
Why did you choose New Zealand?
What have you done with the job search?
Describe your current position.
What is the peoperty prices range in New Zealand (apartment rent, buying a house)?
What aew your long term plans?
What do you think are the possible obstacles with finding a job and settling?
Do you have any friends or family in New Zealand?
What is your plan once you arrive?
Did you contact any companies or recruiting agencies, if yes, which one/s?
What if you can't find a job in your field?
Where would you like to live?
Where are you going first? Why?
Would you like to get a higher qualification (Master's degree)? When?
How do you plan to make friends?
How do you plan to support yourself?
When are you planning to go?
If everything goes well, then your case officer decides your case and passes on the file to another officer who checks it for mistakes. When this process is completed, your online status will be updated and an email will be sent to you with the final decision.
1. If your application is (Approved), then each applicant in your application will receive a resident visa.
2. If your application is (Deterred), then the main applicant will receive a job search visa. This allows the main applicant only to go to New Zealand and search for a job for 9 months. If the main applicant finds a job within 9 months, then his/her family can join them in New Zealand.
3. The application might be declined.
If the application is approved, an email will be sent to notify you. You will have 6 months to send the passports for the visa from the date of receiving the AIP (Approved In Principal) letter.
Once the visa is stamped, you will have a year to activate it. When you arrive in New Zealand, you will have a new stamp with a two-year validity.
After you have lived in New Zealand for two years (184 days in each year approximately), you can opt for a permanent residency visa which can never be revoked no matter how many years you stay away from New Zealand.
