This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.?QUALIFICATIONS:?- Prefer purebred cow experience but will consider good commercial cow/calf experience- Experience in animal health and cattle feeding- Must handle cattle in a quiet manner / Low stress cattle handling- A.I. experience is not necessary but would be a plus- Ability to work well independently as well as with a team is a necessity- Detail-oriented and good record-keeping skills a must- Ability for winter night-time calving in cold temperatures??JOB DESCRIPTION:?Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a good Ranch Herdsman for this purebred western Nevada ranch operation. Ranch operation seeking reliable, detail-oriented team member to work in the ranch?s cattle production unit. Duties involve calving assistance with cowherd, keeping records, walking pens, fencing, health review, and cattle processing. Ranch requires quiet cattle handling skills. Position requires reliability, precision, and a willingness to learn and to work flexible hours during calving season. This position provides opportunities for the right employee who shows initiative and to be a critical part of a progressive operation. Must have good cow experience and prefer some A.I. breeding experience, though not required. Ranch will A.I. all their cows. Needs to have experience in calving and doctoring. Needs to be able to work well as a team and have a strong work ethic, as this person will be working with people and working longer hours during calving and heat detecting. Must be dependable and reliable. Employee duties include calving in Spring and Fall, assistance in AI breeding (AI skills not required), work with feed efficiency system on site, processing cattle being finished, health reviews of cattle in lots and grazing. Ranch uses ATVs. Good work stability; willing to train the right person who has commercial cow background with strong basics and work ethic. Position provides a family friendly atmosphere near the best public schools in Nevada.
