The Faculty of Arts is the home of the humanities, social sciences, languages and indigenous studies at the University of Auckland. We have been internationally recognised as New Zealand's leading arts faculty in the QS World University Rankings by Faculty in 2018, which placed us 28th in the world for arts and humanities and 33rd for Social Sciences.
We have an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to design, deliver and administer a brand-new Stage 1 course on employability. This is an innovative cross-faculty programme of study which aims to equip students with the practical application of professional skills, personal development and workplace readiness. We anticipate that the course will have a strong online component and engagement with external experts, which the successful applicant will be expected to facilitate. Overall, the course will play a central role in enhancing the value of the Bachelor of Arts degree, and helping students achieve the attributes of the BA Graduate Profile.
Reporting to the Deputy Dean, the successful applicant will have course design and delivery expertise, and also be expected to contribute to Faculty initiatives in experiential learning, which will advance the broader Faculty Teaching and Learning strategy.
The key deliverables of this position include the following:
· Researching, reviewing and administering the course
· Assisting with the development of a Faculty-wide strategy on experiential learning
· Designing the learning environment with employability in mind
· Course co-ordination including marking, teaching and the promotion of the programme
We are looking for someone who thrives when presented with the opportunity to grow something new. To ensure this programme successful, we need someone with strong teaching and learning skills and the ability to work collaboratively and influence both internal and external stakeholders and students.
We are seeking applicants who can demonstrate the following:
· Teaching experience at the Tertiary level
· Strong course administration skills
· The ability to motivate and inspire students
· A postgraduate qualification in Arts
