Fisheries Inspector
أنا : Mr. Job Ministry of Agriculture and FoodAbbotsford (Hybrid)Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment. Fisheries Inspector$69,681.13 - $79,306.77 annually which includes a 1 Grid Temporary Market Adjustment* The Food Safety Inspection Branch handles the licensing, inspection, and compliance of the commercial fish trade within British Columbia. They do so under the provincial (FSA) and the (FSLR). To help protect public health, we work with the seafood sector by promoting seafood safety and ensuring compliance with the FSA. As a Fisheries Inspector, you will conduct inspections and investigations. You will also make licensing recommendations for licensed fish processing and seafood-handling facilities. This position will also promote compliance under the FSA and FSLR. You enforce regulations and impose fines or sanctions against non-compliant parties. You will be a key player in building strong relationships with industry and other government agencies. This includes the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and Regional Health Authorities. This is a rewarding opportunity that will combine your problem-solving skills and inspection/investigative experience to safeguard public health by ensuring that safe, high-quality seafood enters the B.C. marketplace. Qualifications for this role includeegree or Diploma in a related discipline such as administrative law, investigation and enforcement, criminology, environmental health science or food science.Consideration may be given for compliance & enforcement training such as the Justice Institute of British Columbia programs or similar education/training institution. Preference may be given to applicants with degree or diploma in food science.2 or more years of experience conducting inspections to monitor compliance. Preference may be given to applicants with 4 or more years of experience.2 or more years of experience conducting investigations and taking enforcement action in a regulatory field. Preference may be given to applicants with 4 or more years of experience.2 or more years of experience in interpreting and applying legislation and/or regulations pertaining to a regulatory program. Preference may be given to applicants with 4 or more years of experience.An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Valid B.C. driver’s licence.
