Ng?? T??ngata Tiaki o Whanganui Trust (Nga Tangata Tiaki) is the Whanganui Iwi owned entity responsible for implementation of the Te Awa Tupua Whanganui River Settlement arrangements which focus on the health and wellbeing of the Whanganui River and the social, cultural and economic development of the uri, whanau and hapu of Whanganui nui tonu. Nga Tangata Tiaki also holds approximately $90 million worth of financial assets of Whanganui Iwi within a group structure designed to protect and maximise the growth of the assets. The Ng?? T??ngata Tiaki Group consists of:
• Te Ngakinga o Whanganui Investment Trust;
• Whanganui Iwi Fisheries Limited; and
• Whanganui Iwi Development Trust (to be established in 2017)

Ng?? T??ngata Tiaki has reached a pivotal and exciting stage in its growth and development. The newly created position of CFO is responsible for the delivery of strategic financial advice and provides high performance leadership of the finance and support services team. The CFO position is accountable for developing and maintaining robust, high quality financial systems, processes and services, as well as providing rigorous business analytics and advice in support of strategic planning, investment decisions and operational policy.
Reporting to the GM, the CFO manages the finance and support services team who provide administration, technical advice and analysis across the group. Specifically the finance and support services team is responsible for providing financial strategy, business planning, payroll management, and group wide administration and secretarial services.
If successful you will analyse, monitor and forecast finance and support services team workloads and introduce tools and strategies to manage these workloads proactively. Naturally, you will have confidence in analysing key drivers, opportunities and competitive advantages to develop strategies to benefit the business, and keep current with market information via networking, affiliations and connections.
Standards and criteria for application are to include;
• CA qualification, with current membership of the chartered accountants Australia & New Zealand.
• A tertiary degree in a relevant field or equivalent knowledge /skills and experience.
• Extensive funds and financial management practice.
• Exceptional commercial acumen, ability to analyse data and develop key strategies to benefit the business.
• Ability to build effective, sustainable networks across varied key stakeholder groups.
• Sound understanding of the constitutional principles and legal processes that underpin the post settlement environment.
• Skilled in the implementation internal control approaches/processes as they apply to financial systems.
• Demonstrate prior evidence of the development and implementation of monitoring, reporting and internal controls.

Having worked within comparably complex organisations, you will have lead operational transformations and have a history of leading teams at executive management level. Managing sector relationships, you will foster and maintain effective working relationships with key individuals and groups from the wider Ng?? T??ngata Tiaki Group and community. You will take a wide view on organisational issues, a strong focus on backing the organisation to succeed by sustaining efficient and effective operational performance.
