Job Number: 2127648 Business: GE Capital Business Segment: Capital - International About Us: Posted Position Title: Operational Risk Manager Career Level: Experienced Function: Risk Management Function Segment: Enterprise and Operational Risk Location: Australia U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces: City: Richmond Postal Code: 3121 Relocation Assistance: No Role Summary/Purpose: To support the Head of Operational Risk Management with analytical and oversight capability to identify and measure (quantify) risks and opportunities over the operational risk lifecycle and ensure the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF) is embedded. The Operational Risk Manager will ensure that GE Capital has reliable, timely data and analytical processes (tools & strategies) to support active portfolio management, particularly as it pertains to operational risk management Essential Responsibilities: Assist in the development and implementation of the 2nd Line operational risk oversight program
Conduct oversight activities to ensure the ORMF is embedded within the business and operating effectively. This will include reviews over the op risk event management process, the Issue Management process and the Risk & Control Self-Assessment activities.
Assist in the development of new Procedures to support the Op Risk Framework
Provide Training and Education to the Business Assurance team and Business functions where necessary
Partner with the businesses within GE Capital to:
Implement new operational risk tools, processes and procedures;
Develop reporting that is meaningful to the business and risk governance committees in terms of trend and lead indicator;
Develop and implement strategies that effectively address negative trends in operational loss and near miss.
Develop/implement "best in class” risk management techniques using internal/external knowledge/resources.
Develop/implement and support periodic operational risk reporting, including taking responsibility for monitoring business/function performance against the requirements of the ORMF as it pertains to risk event treatment and reporting.
Perform detailed analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of operational risk control strategies in achieving business objectives.
Support development of risk mitigation strategies and evaluate performance.
Produce information, analysis and recommendations to highlight risk issues.
Work as a member of cross-functional teams to ensure risk aspects are covered Qualifications/Requirements:
- Minimum educational requirement – bachelor's degree. Emphasis in a Quantitative or Business discipline (preferred).

- Minimum three years’ experience in the Banking & Finance industry with practical knowledge of operational risk processes and techniques
Demonstrate strong analytical skills and aptitude to business related issues
Has sound business acumen including financial analysis skills.
Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas in a business context
Technical skills required: Proficiency in MS Office, advanced expertise with spreadsheets
P&L awareness
Basic project management skills
