We are currently taking Expressions of Interest for volunteer Friends of the Emergency Department (FEDs) in Hamilton.
The primary focus of this role is to provide non-clinical comfort, information and support to patients and those who support them whilst within the Emergency Care center.
The program operates in Waikato Hospital.
We ask volunteers to commit to one shift a week or fortnightly, in order to cover a roster of three four hour shifts per day (morning, afternoon and evening), every day of the week (Monday to Sunday) and 52 weeks of the year.

You must be at least 18 years of age and have left secondary school.
- Excellent communication skills
- Sensitivity towards those who are sick
- A friendly, caring and compassionate personality
- A genuine interest in the well-being of others
- Physically fit (the role involves a lot of walking)
Successful applicants will receive full training, uniform and Membership of St John (which gives free ambulance service for immediate family)
A First Aid Certificate is not required.
